Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively as a licensed and credentialed independent practitioner with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis and treatment of individuals with acute and sub-acute illnesses consistent with privileges granted. Provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient team members in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the surgical/post-operative setting. Delegated the clinical administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary to carry out assigned duties. Scope of practice and delineation of Nurse Practitioner, defined by NYS Department of Education, within the NP role, and are credentialed and approved by the Chairman, Department of Surgery, Chairmen of Credentials Committee, and Medical Executive Committee.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner approved program. certification
- Graduate of an accredited school of Professional nursing required
- NYS Licensed Registered Nurse
- Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by NYS
- Meets credentialing requirements as appropriate through the Medical Staff office required
- Board Certified by either AACN or AANP required
- Certification in BLS required
EXPERIENCE- Three (3) years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred
- Advanced content knowledge in post-operative patient care preferred
- Knowledge of oncology and chemotherapy infusion preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY- Ability to manage acute sensitivity/allergic reactions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team

WORKING CONDITIONS:- Frequent sitting, standing and walking
- Visual and auditory acuity are essential
- Works in office setting and patient care units throughout facility
- Exposure to infectious diseases and uses appropriate personal protective equipment
- Working hours are varied, works beyond normal working hours, weekend coverage as necessary
VACCINE REQUIREMENTS
