Hours: 7:00am to 3:00pm
Summary:
Installs, repairs, tests and maintains electrical equipment, circuits, motors, controls and transformers.
Inspects electrical lighting, fire alarm, signal and power systems, including emergency generation and power. Installs cable for communications and computer systems. Test adjusts, calibrates and maintains a wide variety of control equipment, including central heating plant controls, building heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment, controls for refrigeration and for a wide variety of other equipment and systems. Covers the role of Lead Electrician in his absence.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
- High school graduate
- Technical school with electrical training -or- 2 year apprenticeship program
- Military training as an electrician may be considered
- Licensed Electrician preferred
- Valid NYS Drivers License
EXPERIENCE
- Five (5) years experience working as a Journeyman Electrician
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule forms or blueprints
- Knowledge of electrical theory, practices and techniques
- Knowledge of mathematics, applicable standards and electrical code regulations of the trade including regulatory agencies related to the electrical field
- Able to interpret electrical wiring circuit diagrams, architectural blueprints and schematics
- Must have experience with secondary power circuits over 200 volts and be willing to be trained and work with primary circuits with voltages up to 23,000 volts
- Ability to operate all emergency power generation and transfer equipment
- Ability to safely switch all high voltage equipment greater than 480 Volts
- Computer literacy is required
