The Director, Human Resources is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all HR related activities and initiatives for Mercy Hospital of Buffalo (MHB) in collaboration with site Administration and Corporate Human Resources. This role encompasses all MHB locations excluding the MHB Skilled Nursing location. The position is responsible for providing supervision and guidance to the MHB Human Resource staff related to all areas of HR including labor and associate relations, as well as all being able to provide guidance and support to managers / associates to address Talent Acquisition Benefits, Compensation, Pension / Retirement, IDM, Associate Health, and Safety related questions/concerns. This position functions as a strategic and collaborative member of the MHB Executive Strategy team. Works collaboratively with System Director of Labor Relations & HR Legal and all other CH Human Resources leaders to ensure all Ministry-based labor and associate relations initiatives support the approved strategies of Catholic Health.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or relevant course of study required, a Master's degree in said fields strongly preferred
- Certification as Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Certification in Healthcare Human Resources (CHHR) strongly preferred
EXPERIENCE - A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive work experience in all areas of human resources with a minimum of five (5) years of work experience at a managerial level
- A minimum of five (5) years of comprehensive Labor Relations work experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY - Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstration of strong leadership skills
- Solid strategic planning, analytical, and organization skills
- Excellent knowledge of Human Resource management best practices, employment and labor law
- Good facilitation and mediation skills Ability to develop and work in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to develop and work in a collaborative unionized environment
- Excellent computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access software applications
- Solid knowledge of HRIS system applications, preferably Lawson
WORKING CONDITIONS ENVIRONMENT - Typical of an office work and healthcare environment setting
- Travel is required amongst Catholic Health facilities
