Hours: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm. Two days a month will require a 6am-2pm shift.
Summary:
The Administrative Assistant shall provide clerical and administrative support to the Department Chair and/or Associate Chair and Division Chief for the Departments of Surgery, Urology, Orthopedic Surgery, Podiatry, Emergency Medicine, Medicine, Family Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Neurosurgery and occasionally the Director of Peri-operative Services. As a teaching hospital, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for facilitating resident/student rotations in several disciplines. Responsible for maintaining the on-call schedules, performance improvement activities, credentialing and in-house CME programs as well as day-to-day operation of the respective Department offices, if applicable.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- High School diploma or GED with a two (2) year degree in secretarial science preferred; equivalent experience may be taken into consideration
EXPERIENCE- Minimum of two (2) years of administrative assistant experience required
- Satisfactory completion of Administrative Assistant testing
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY- Ability to work independently, establish priorities, work well under pressure and meet deadlines

- Ability to multitask
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- Typing skills of 55 wpm
- Ability to do internet research
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Good Judgement, common sense and diplomacy
- Solid organizational skills
- Ability to research and interpret regulatory requirements including, but not limited to New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Joint Commission, and ACS a plus
- Fundamental knowledge of various audiovisual equipment used for conferences
- Must remain confidential on all Medical Staff matters
- Working knowledge of MDStaff database and reporting
