Work Schedule: Days and Evenings with Call Weekend and Holiday Rotation
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm Varies by shift and on call needs. could work up to 18 hours a week and be on call for multiple 24 hour shifts.
Summary:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Mission Services, the Specialized Counselor-Coach ministers to patients, families, and associates in regard to religious/spiritual beliefs and personal concerns; As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, the Specialized Counselor - Coach provides spiritual and emotional support for patients, families and staff within the context of illness, suffering, loss, and death; Primary areas of responsibility include units such as Intensive Care, Emergency, Oncology, anti-partum at risk and neo-natal intensive care; The Specialized Counselor-Coach receives referrals, complete documentation including Spiritual Assessments as well as provide on-going ministry and support
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- Bachelor's Degree in Pastoral Ministry or related field required (to include Counseling and Mental Health fields)
- Master's Degree preferred
- One (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education, preferred
- Ecclesiastical Endorsements -
- Must be in good standing to serve as a Specialized Counselor/Coach according to the code of ethics for spiritual care professionals and the standards of practice for professional chaplains; Should the Specialized Counselor/Coach characterize or hold themselves out to be a member of any religious clergy, he or she must be held as a member in good standing of same religious clergy or order at all times while employed at Catholic Health
EXPERIENCE- Active, practicing Catholic preferred with pastoral and/or counseling experience marked by demonstrated grasp of both the complexity of health care as a business and the unique moral, ethical and social expectations placed on the health care provider who claims a Catholic identity
- Well-formed in Catholic tradition, knowledge of Catholic theology and Catholic social teaching preferred
- At least two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following are recommended: health care, education, counseling, mission or spiritual care
