Summary:
Perform professional work requiring advanced application and use of concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, and terminology of accounting. Analyze and review financial data and prepare financial statements and reports for both internal and external purposes consistent with a comprehensive understanding of Catholic Health's mission and vision. The Senior Accountant will manage the preparation of the financial statements with an advanced understanding of non-profit healthcare and foundation accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), applicable regulations, and Catholic Health's policies and procedures. Guidelines and procedures are established on a global basis and an advanced level of professional judgment is required.
While position of the Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for preparing the monthly financial statements, this position will also assist in the preparation of the annual tax returns including the IRS Form 990, operating budget, and assist with preparation the Medicare cost report as required. This position will work closely with Treasury Services to ensure all expenses are properly accrued and related transactions are properly reflected on the respective financial statements. Additional ad-hoc reporting and participation in organizational committees will occur on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- Bachelors in Accounting
- Finance CPA preferred
EXPERIENCE- A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a healthcare system
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY - Knowledge of PC and spreadsheet based program, (i.e. Excel) required
- Strong knowledge of financial management
- Good analytical, and organization skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team setting
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
- Comfort in working in a matrix environment
- Able to demonstrate ability to work independently
