Summary:
As part of the acute hospital care at MHB, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) administers nursing care to designated patients under the direction of a registered nurse. The LPN will assist in coordinating and delegating the activities of the nurse assistants and will actively participate in the direct care of the patient. Through a patient and family centered approach, the LPN provides holistic, high quality and safe care to patients within the scope of practice identified by the State of New York, evidence-based nursing practices and the standards set by Catholic Health.
LPNs provide care to patients with complex care needs that are well defined and established, who have predictable outcomes and manageable responses. Responsibilities:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE- Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing
- Currently licensed and registered as a Practical Nurse in New York State or possessing a limited permit
- BLS & ACLS validation and recertification in accordance to AHA standards
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY - Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position
- Ability to withstand some strenuous physical activity and stress
- Manages workload in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a sound knowledge of nursing standards of documentation
WORKING CONDITIONS- Subject to inside environmental conditions
ENVIRONMENT- May be exposed to disagreeable conditions including but not limited to odors, blood, body excrete, etc.
