Summary:

The Manager, Health Information will work cooperatively with clerical and transcription company, physicians, other Catholic Health Managers, Health Information, Quality and Patient Safety, Corporate Compliance and Ancillary Departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of medical records. The manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and monitoring the functions and staff related to facility specific Health Information Clerical, Release of Information and Transcription services. The Manager, Health Information will work cooperatively with other Catholic Health Managers and Health Information in the development and implementation of system-wide clerical policies and procedures. The manager will also monitor compliance with productivity standards for clerical staff in accordance with Catholic Health standards. The manager also serves as an internal expert on health information management issues including release of information, confidentiality, storage and retrieval, record retention policies as well as authentication of health record documentation and standardization of abbreviations.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • Associates Degree in Health Information Technology with RHIT is required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree Health Information Management with RHIA is preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) years of management experience is required
  • Five (5) years of management experience is preferred

  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. Computer literate
  • Partner with and across teams. Demonstrated ability to work closely with CH associates, medical staff and department managers. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven track record to develop and maintain policies and procedures
  • Drive performance. Management skills related to leading by example, organization, prioritization, organizational integration and coordination. Takes action and is proactive in all aspects of management role. Addresses problems and staff performance issues head-on, solution orientated.
  • Visual acuity for oversight of computer software, on-line references, Electronic Health Record
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers, software, hardware and technological advances
  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency to generate reports and collect data
  • Problem solving. Excellent analytical skills. Ensure difficult and/or most important issues and challenges are addressed appropriately
  • Must be able to respond to diverse scheduling and availability of associates and physicians to adjust schedules to accommodate needs of others
  • Coaching and Developing Others. Ability to use praise and positive/helpful feedback to recognize others regarding skills, specific knowledge, understand personal strengths and weaknesses, willingly shares expertise, helps other develop abilities, create realistic career goals and plans, rounding. Ability and willingness to coach staff with negative behaviors and/or knowledge deficits, or reach out to others with ability to coach/assist these staff members in improvement

  • Ability to drive and travel to multiple sites
WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Manager works in an office setting with computers and medical record files. Travel is required to attend meetings and conferences across the Catholic Health. Occasional change in work schedule to accommodate project implementation or handle department concerns
