Summary:
The Monitor Technician monitors patients EKG waveforms, rhythms in a centralized monitoring station. The monitor tech provides the nurses and physicians with analysis of cardiac rhythms oral and written documentation. The monitor tech detects abnormal pattern variances and notifies the RN.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION:
- High School Graduate
- Successful completion of arrhythmia course required
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous Monitor Tech experience or experience reading cardiac rhythms preferred
- EKG and arrhythmia interpretation experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- Successfully pass written examination following training course
- Able to sit long periods concentrating on monitors regardless of environmental activity and surroundings
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to read with comprehension,
- Ability to do simple arithmetic
- Able to write legibly
