The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Liaison is outward facing and serves as a liaison between the hospital, EMS, and other providers of emergency services. This position will represent the hospital at the Regional EMS council meeting, and other community events involving emergency care and disaster response. It is the responsibility of this position to improve the reputation of the hospital to EMS, Fire, & Police, by building stronger relationships and improved communication with both volunteer and professional first responder agencies.
The primary focus of the EMS Liaison is building and maintaining relationships with EMS/Fire/Police/Transport agencies that interact or have the potential to interact with the hospital. In this capacity, this role serves as a liaison between the Emergency Department and local EMS/Fire and Transport agency employees who routinely interact with the hospital, while also seeking to develop relationships and business partnerships with new agencies. The EMS Liaison is also responsible for providing continuing educational opportunities for EMS personnel per established guidelines. The EMS Liaison is responsible for ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with system and hospital standards as well as regulatory, legal and accreditation agency requirements.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- Current license as Registered Nurse or Paramedic in NY
- If licensed as a Registered Nurse, Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred upon hire, and required within three (3) years of employment
- If licensed as a Paramedic, Bachelor's degree in emergency management or health related field preferred upon hire, and required within three (3) years of employment
- Certification in BLS, ACLS and PALS required, instructor certification preferred
- Certification in NIHS
- Hazwhopper, ICS 100, 200HC, 700 & 800 preferred, or required within six (6) months of employment
EXPERIENCE- Minimum of three (3) years recent clinical experience in a hospital emergency department and/or emergency medical services
