Facility: St. Catherine Laboure SNF Post Acute

Shift: Shift 1

Status: Part Time w/Benefits FTE: 0.500000

Bargaining Unit: ACE Associates

Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: No

Work Schedule: Days and Evenings with Call Weekend and Holiday Rotation

Hours:

9:00am-3:30pm based on facility need.

Summary:

Under the direction of the Vice President Mission Integration, the Pastoral Minister ministers to clients, residents, and/or patients and families in regard to religious/spiritual beliefs. As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, the Pastoral Minister provides spiritual and emotional support for clients/residents/patients, families, and staff within the context of illness, suffering, loss, and death. Pastoral Ministers receive referrals, completes Spiritual Assessments and documentation, as well as provide on-going ministry in Home and Community Based Care. Travel between sites may be required.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • Master's Degree in Pastoral Ministry or related field required
  • Two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education, preferred
  • Ecclesiastical Endorsements -
    • Must be in good standing to serve as a pastoral minister according to the code of ethics for spiritual care professionals and the standards of practice for professional chaplains. Should the pastoral minister characterize or hold themselves out to be a member of any religious clergy, he or she must be held as a member in good standing of same religious clergy or order at all times while employed at Catholic Health.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must be active, practicing Catholic with pastoral experience marked by demonstrated grasp of both the complexity of health care as a business and the unique moral, ethical and social expectations placed on the health care provider who claims a Catholic identity
  • Well-formed in Catholic tradition, knowledge of Catholic theology and Catholic social teaching
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in one or more of the following are recommended: health care, education, mission or spiritual care

  • Strong emotional and spiritual maturity
  • Ability to maintain professional and personal confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
  • Flexibility in work hours, programs and services
  • Ability to work well as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to utilize computer for documentation, communication and preparation of material for ministry
  • Presentation and teaching skills
  • Ability to lead and coordinate prayer/Communion services
  • Ability to provide group facilitation and critical incident stress management
  • Knowledge of Advance Directives policy and ability to facilitate discussion with participant/family

  • Normal heat, light space, and safe working environment; typical of most office jobs

  • Potentially visiting clients/patients in their home (Home Care)
  • Potential exposure to pets in the home setting
