Summary:
Performs prescribed procedures of the sleep laboratory under the direction of a physician in accordance with established policies, practices and standards.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Must possess valid New York State Respiratory Therapist, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- If Non-Registered, Sleep Technologist by the ABSM, BRPT, or NBRC
- Must be enrolled in or have completed the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules within two years of hire.
- Be NYSED Authorized Polysomnographic Technologist
- BLS/CPR certification required within three months of hire.

- Be registered in Sleep Technology or accepted to sit for the registry examination through one of the following organizations:
- American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM)
- Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist - Sleep Disorder Specialist (RRT-SDS)
- Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
EXPERIENCE
- Three (3) years of previous sleep clinical experience with RPSGT preferred, however new graduates with a Respiratory Therapist license will be considered.
- Orientation and training to the essential functions of the position is expected to be completed during the introduction period.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to assess/interpret patient data and draw appropriate conclusions.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to infectious diseases/blood and body fluids.
- May require variable work schedules including overnight shifts
