Hours: 7:00am to 7:00pm
Summary:
The Nurse Assistant assigned to the NICU assists with patient care, provides safety, hygiene, and comfort measures, restocks supplies and maintains equipment. Works under the direct supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse.
In this role the Nurse Assistant will also work as a milk room technician. The milk room tech is responsible for preparing, labeling, tracking, storing, and distributing infant formula and human milk, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and accuracy. This role works closely with the medical and dietary staff to meet the individualized feeding needs of the infants in the NICU.
This position is eligible to participate in the THRIVE program that provides education and a Workforce Coach to support them through their first year of employment.
Responsibilities:
Education:
- High School Graduate
- Milk technician certification preferred
Experience:
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- Ability to work across Service Line
- Ability to meet demands of unit staffing - need for increased census and acuity.
- Ability to perform technical aspects of job with unit-based equipment.
- Must possess the ability to do basic math, measuring and computer skills.
- Adaptable to inside and outside environmental conditions.
