Facility: Sisters of Charity Hospital

Status: Per Diem

Work Schedule: Days

Bargaining Unit: ACE Associates

Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: Yes

Hours: 6-2 7-3 8-4 10-6, flexible

To work collaboratively as a licensed and credentialed independent practitioner with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis and treatment of individuals with acute and sub-acute illnesses consistent with privileges granted. Provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient team members in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the surgical setting. Delegation of authority: You are delegated the clinical administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary to carry out assigned duties. Scope of practice and delineation of nurse practitioner privileges, defined by NYS Department of Education, within the NP role, and are credentialed and approved by the Chairman, Department of Surgery, Chief of Otorhinolaryngology, Chairmen of Credentials Committee, and Medical Executive Committee,


  • Licensed RN in New York, Current NYS license
  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner approved program with recorded certification
  • Infection Control Training certificate
  • Board certified by either AACN or AANP
  • Successful completion of approved RNFA program that meets AORN recommendation education, meets requirements of statutes, regulations, and institutional policies relevant to RN first assistants standards for RN first assistant programs and is accepted by the certification board of perioperative nursing

  • Three (3) to five (5) years as clinically practicing Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner preferred


  • Current CPR required
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Communication skills which may be inclusive of approach, tone of voice, speed of communication, respectfulness and non verbal communication

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Works in office area and patient rooms throughout the facility
  • Working hours are varied, works beyond normal working hours, weekends coverage as necessary
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and uses appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Normal heat, light space, and safe working environment; typical of clinical care units
  • Subject to environmental conditions in the operating room
  • Respond to on-call emergencies
