Facility: Sisters of Charity Hospital

Status: Part Time No Benefits

Work Schedule: Days

Bargaining Unit: ACE Associates

Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: Yes

Hours: 9-5 possibility of weekends

Summary:


The NICU Social Worker provides comprehensive clinical social work and discharge planning services to families of babies in the NICU and to hospitalized antepartum patients. Working as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, the social worker utilizes a process of assessment, planning, intervention, facilitation and advocacy to meet a mother/baby/family's bio-psychosocial needs with attention to quality, thoughtful use of resources and optimum patient experience. The social worker also provides consultation and education to the clinical care team on psychosocial factors that may impact a mother/family's response to pregnancy or parenting.

Responsibilities:


EDUCATION
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
  • Current NYS Master of Social Work license (LMSW) or current NYS Clinical Social Work license (LCSW) desired

EXPERIENCE
  • Three (3) years social work experience in a health care setting or related setting serving mothers, babies, and families

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
  • Excellent knowledge of those psychosocial risk factors impacting mothers/parents/families
  • Excellent knowledge of community resources that can assist and support babies and families
  • Able to effectively work within the role of a social worker on a interdisciplinary care team
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, and advocacy skills
  • Able to manage a high volume of psychosocially complicated cases, supporting and empowering mothers/parents/ families, and contributing to the optimal care experience for themselves and their babies

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Travel between facilities may be required on occasion
