Summary:
Collaborates with members of the health care team to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) through the Nutrition Care Process including nutrition education and counseling to patients. Identifies patients at nutrition risk and assesses nutrient requirements according to age and disease specific needs. Develops a nutrition diagnosis and implements nutrition care treatment plans for all assigned patients. Continuously evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of MNT intervention. Assists the Clinical Nutrition Manager with the planning and coordination of departmental activities, work schedules Quality Improvement, software database management, Productivity evaluation and performance management. Works closely with other departments and facilities within the Catholic Health System to ensure quality nutritional care is provided to all patients. Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
- BS Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics plus internship or other education to meet requirements for registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required
- Registration with the CDR required
- Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist required
- Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CDN) with New York State to be obtained within 1st year of employment required
- Active membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred
- Active membership with ASPEN preferred
- Three (3) years acute care and supervisory experience preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills with strong focus on service excellence
- Must demonstrate strong reading, writing, and communication skills
- Strong team leadership skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Demonstrates problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must possess general office skills, including by not limited to computer/keyboarding, using multipurpose machines, and demonstrates computer proficiency

- Ability to apply judgement independently, and prioritize tasks
- Able to work well in stressful situations and conditions of frequent interruption
