Facility: Mount St Marys Day Care Center

Status: Full Time

Work Schedule: Days

Bargaining Unit: ACE Associates

Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: Yes

Hours:8-5/5:30 Monday - Friday Days. Additional hours when necessary

Summary:


Responsible for all activities that run the child care center. This includes families, children, staff, NYSOCFS and NYSSHD, financial reporting to CHS and parents including billing and collecting of fees, ordering of supplies and submitting for payment, scheduling of staff and children as per individual classrooms. Responsible for following New York State Office of Child and Family Services and New York State Department of Health regulations.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree including, or in addition to, twelve (12) credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field

or
  • New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential

or
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood or related field with a plan of study leading to:
    • a Bachelor's degree; or
    • a new York State Program Administration credential

or
  • Child Development Associate credential with a plan of study leading to
    • a Bachelor's degree or
    • a New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential
EXPERIENCE Must have experience below based on education above

  • Bachelor's degree including, or in addition to, twelve (12) credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field with
    • One year full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program and one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work

or
  • New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential with
    • One year full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program and one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work

or
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood or related field with a plan of study leading to:
    • Bachelor's degree; or
    • a new York State Program Administration credential with

Two years full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work

or
  • Child Development Associate credential with a plan of study leading to
    • a Bachelor's degree or
    • a New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential

Two years full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ABILITY
  • The specific skills required to be able to perform this job is both early childhood related and small business related skills
  • The Skills with early childhood is related to lesson planning and training of others in early childhood with planning, this includes appropriate curriculum based programing for all ages served, appropriate room arrangement based on ages served in different classroom, appropriate equipment based on ages served and appropriate outdoor equipment and play
  • Computer skills, clerical skills, manual dexterity, analytical thinking and processing skills are required
  • Skills in selling program to potential customers
  • Managing and supervising skills for employees, following Human Resource regulations related to hiring and supervising
  • Have an understanding of New York State Health Department as it relates to meal preparation and health codes
  • Basic understanding of computers, financial and accounting practices and early child care practices

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The working conditions of this job are multi-faceted. Work environment is office space along with conference room, monitoring 6 classrooms, laundry facilities, and kitchen space for staff and children, large gym, breast feeding room and large out door areas
  • The relative comfort or discomfort of the work environment is dependent on individual days. Most working conditions are comfortable but while working with children there is the potential of being exposed to illness and with that bodily fluids
  • Normal heat and air conditioning between 68 and 72 degrees, light space, and safe working environment
  • Occasional exposure to one or more mildly unpleasant physical conditions
  • Intermittent exposure to a few unpleasant physical conditions
