Summary:
Provides rehabilitation according to state licensure. Organizes and conducts treatment programs to restore and prevent loss of function following disease, injury and/or disability. Serves as a clinical expert in neurologic/ stroke care (prevention and treatment) throughout Catholic Health and its various clinical settings (hospital, MRU, Subacute/LTC, Outpatient, etc.). Provides specialization in neurologic/ stroke care in support of the Catholic Health stroke/ vascular service lines. Requires traveling to multiple sites to provide education, complete competencies, attend meetings and clinical rounds, etc. Responsible for development of neurologic/ stroke treatment policies and procedures in collaboration with rehab medical leadership, mentoring therapists, providing education to various clinical staff, as well as pursue ongoing continuing education and certification in neurologic/ stroke treatments for rehab professionals.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
- Professional degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy from an accredited program by the NYS Department of Education required.
- Certification by the NDT, AOTA, APTA, or ASHA as a certified Neurological/ Stroke Therapist.
- Registered and licensed by NYS Department of Education.
- Certified Neurological/ Stroke Therapist as defined by the NDT, AOTA, APTA or ASHA.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 4 years prior experience working in a rehab setting, with 3 years in neurological/ stroke care required.
- Registered and licensed by NYS Department of Education.
- Certified Neurological/ Stroke Therapist as defined by the NDT, AOTA, APTA or ASHA.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY
- Ability to teach/ mentor other clinicians in area of expertise.
- Ability to adjust travel to provide clinical services in various clinical settings.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Considerable amount of bending, stooping, walking, and lifting.
- Standing and transferring of patients.
