Facility: Kenmore Mercy Hospital

Shift: Shift 1

Status: Full Time FTE: 1.000000

Bargaining Unit: ACE Associates

Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: No

Hours: 08:00-16:00

Performs duties related to functions in the Sleep Laboratory, Respiratory Care Services and Pulmonary Function Laboratory as outlined below. May be required to provide some cross coverage service to Non-Invasive Cardiology, EEG and Nuclear Medicine departments, when needed. Generates and acknowledges requisitions, prepares charts for testing in department, sorts, copies, faxes reports as required in the department. Has working knowledge of computer to perform simple tasks in MS Office (Word, Excel) and other hospital systems to generate copies of reports, retrieve patient information, and enter required information for statistical purposes. Answers telephone, makes appointments for testing in the department, takes messages and delivers to appropriate persons. Directs and assists physicians, patients and visitors as needed


  • High School graduate

  • One (1) year office experience , or Associates Degree in lieu of experience

  • Medical Terminology
  • Keyboard and computer knowledge
  • Exceptional interpersonal and telephone management skills
  • Must be organized in maintaining workflow
  • Must possess patience and maturity in dealing with patients and families as well as medical staff and other hospital personnel
  • Must be able to work rapidly with frequent interruptions while maintaining high degree of accuracy
  • Must have knowledge of testing requirements in order to schedule appointments appropriately

  • Environment typical of most office settings, with normal indoor temperatures, lighting, and noise levels.
  • Potential for exposure to patients with infectious disease processes, or patients who are confused/ combative
