Work Schedule: Rotate on call per dept needs, rotate wknds/holidays as nec.
Hours: Prime shift 8am-4pm secondary shift : 7am-3pm Responsibility to Core and Blood Bank
Summary:
Primary responsibilities include the implementation of the section's review & development of new test procedures and/or modifications; providing technical guidance and assistance for the automation section including the urgent response laboratory; performing tests on body fluids for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Acting as the Quality Systems Manager for a specific site or area of responsibility, performs and documents QA activities as defined by Laboratory Administrative and Medical Leadership. Charge Technologist duties include operational functions such as patient and QC review, log sheet review, emergency scheduling, communications to other hospital officials as well as laboratory leadership, instrument service deployment authorization, safety related command, and other operational duties that require leadership action.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- B.S. degree in Medical Technology or related discipline required
- NYS Licensure required
EXPERIENCE- Clinical rotation from an accredited school, in a hospital setting
- Six (6) years general clinical laboratory work experience OR six (6) years work experience in the specific preferred area
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY - Ability to work with processor-controlled equipment and instruments
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work safely with infectious and/or hazardous materials
- Demonstrated supervisory skills
- Customer focused
