Summary:
The Nurse Attendant is responsible to assist the professional staff by performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patients. The Nurse Attendant is responsible for the delivery of patient care (baths, personal grooming, feeding) as directed by the Director or RN as appropriate to the ages of the patients served on the nursing unit. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Strives to incorporate the philosophy and mission of Mount Saint Mary's Hospital and to incorporate the Hospital's goal of: Quality care, in a personal manner with total regard for human dignity.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- High School or equivalent
EXPERIENCEMust meet one of the following criteria:
- Worked in a nursing home or hospital for six (6) months as a Nursing Assistant (will consider other types of nursing patient care experience) OR
- Enrolled in nursing school or other medical specialty OR
- C.N.A. certification from an approved program
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY WORKING CONDITIONS: - Exposed to: Infection from disease-bearing specimens, a variety of electromechanical hazards, odorous chemicals and specimens, housekeeping cleaning agents/chemicals
- May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases, patient elements
- Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
- Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements
- Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations and many interruptions
- Flexibility in scheduled working hours/days to meet needs of unit
- Accepts reassignments to other nursing units as directed
- Required Protective Equipment
- Eye/Face Mask protection may be required
- Non-Sterile/Sterile medical gloves may be required
- Utility gloves may be required
- Gowns/Hair covering maybe required
VACCINE REQUIREMENTS
