Summary:
Under direction and guidance of the providers and Office Manager of Orthopedic Services, the Medical Office Assistant is assigned to Surgical Services and accepts the responsibility for the delivery of patient care through the process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation as appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Provides assistance to healthcare providers in preparing for, conducting and completing patient examinations, tests, and clinical procedures. Provides registration/receptionist and all support functions (i.e. maintains and files patient charts, schedules patient surgeries and appointments, orders diagnostic and therapeutic services, verifies patient's medical insurance coverage and payor prior authorizations) for Hospital's Surgical Services practice. Is responsible for performing a variety of duties relating to the timely accurately processing of outpatients to include clinical and administrative.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- Associate's Degree as a Medical Assistant, or completed an equivalent training program required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Meditech & eCW experience preferred
- Credentialed as a certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
EXPERIENCE- One (1) year secretarial/receptionist experience in a hospital, primary care clinic, physician's office, or equivalent required. If there are no applicants with one (1) year experience, the Hospital will then consider applicants who possess working knowledge of medical terminology, basic patient care and medical office practice and procedures acquired through a school program required
- Two (2) years' experience in a hospital, clinic or physician group practice as a Medical Office preferred
- Meditech & eCW experience preferred
