Hours: Mon-Wed- Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Summary:
The Senior Associate Ministry Formation position is primarily responsible to develop, facilitate and assess formation and theological education throughout Catholic Health System including Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Sisters of Charity Hospital, Sisters of Charity Hospital/St. Joseph Campus, Home Care, Long Term Care and the Administration and Regional Training Center. The individual provides leadership for Catholic Health System formation programs and collaborates with the Catholic Health University and Catholic Health Mission leadership to address current and emerging formational needs. The individual is responsible for designing and developing an attainable, coherent, integrated and consistent approach to ministry formation within Catholic Health that is consistent with the Roman Catholic tradition while being respectful of and receptive to other spiritual and religious beliefs. Collaborates with the Senior Vice President and Chief Mission Officer for Mission Integration to design and develop a comprehensive ministry formation program for Catholic Health. Leads the integration, assessment and ongoing development of ministry formation program for Catholic Health, including formation programs for senior leadership, managers, boards and associates. Educates Catholic Health leaders on the nature of ministry formation and its significance within Catholic Health and advocating for its development and success. Assisting Catholic health Mission leadership with formation aspects of all mission integration activities. On-boards new associates to Catholic Health through Mission orientation. Participates on Catholic Health committees and task forces as appropriate. Develops prayers and rituals for dedications and blessings. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in a manner that reflects the Mission, Vision, Values and desired culture of Catholic Health and will be directed to the achievement of our strategic direction.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION
  • Master's degree in Theology, Divinity or an equivalent degree required
  • Preferably advanced degree in theology or Ethics from a Catholic school of theology

EXPERIENCE
  • Must be an active Catholic with leadership experience marked by a demonstrated grasp of both the complexities of health care as a business and the unique moral, ethical and social expectations placed on health care provider that claims Catholic identity
  • At least five years experience in one or more of the following are recommended: health care, education, management, Mission or Spiritual Care
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
  • Well formed in the Catholic Tradition with knowledge of Catholic Theology, Catholic social teaching. Knowledge of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services ethical decision-making models, and clinical and corporate ethical principles and practices. Awareness of trends in ecclesiology and theology of ministry that impact the formation of lay leaders. Person of faith who models a collaborative style of servant leadership
  • Develop and implement Mission Integration strategies. Comprehend and translate theological, ecclesial, ethical and social justice positions consistent with the Catholic Church
  • Demonstrated excellence in facilitation skills, adult learning strategies, and in adapting programs to diverse learning styles and contexts. Capable of establishing mutually beneficial relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Living a practical integrated spirituality. Knowledge of resources and strategies to foster spiritual development. Acquainted with the plurality of religions encountered within the ministry. Able to articulate the lived faith experience and the meaning spirituality brings to the person's life as well as encouraging and empowering individuals and organizations to do the same
  • Demonstrated ability to foster trust, community, open inquiry and respectful dialogue across religious and cultural diversity, while fostering learning that is consistent with the frameworks and source documents that inform Catholic healthcare and Catholic Health
  • Committed to the mission and values of Catholic Health
  • Communication skills that illustrate self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and empathy

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Valid driver's license required for travel to various sites
