Hours: 7am-7:30pm ED
Summary:
Provides the student nurse with the opportunity to work one on one with the RN preceptor on his or her unit of choice, prior to completion of their senior year of nursing school. Under the supervision of the RN , the intern enrolled as a nursing student in an accredited nursing school program, will be allowed to perform those tasks/duties with which they have become familiar (via theory) and performed (via clinical) thus far during their nursing education.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION- Enrolled in a BSN, ADN or Diploma Program
- Two (2) references from Clinical Nursing Instructor
- GPA of 2.75 or above on 4.0 scale
- Current CPR certification
- Completion of hospital rotation
- BLS Certification current
EXPERIENCE- Completion of at least one (1) acute care clinical rotation
KNOWLDEGE, SKILLS ABILITY - Strong Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work across department lines
- Ability to meet demands of unit staffing - need for increased census and acuity
- Ability to perform technical aspects of job with unit based equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS- Adaptable to inside and outside environmental conditions
- The employee must be able to lift objects, bend, stoop, squat, push, pull, carry objects, as well as lift patients
- Employee must be able to hear high pitched or low pitched sounds, hear ordinary conversation, and see close activity
- Position requires coordination for repetitive action
- Normal heat, light space, and safe working environment; typical of most office jobs
- Occasional exposure to one or more mildly unpleasant physical conditions
