An ITA provides healthcare for clients and patients in a variety of settings under the direction of a nurse. They often assist patients with day-to-day tasks, personal care needs and they play a vital role at hospitals. Care includes answering patient call lights to determine the need of the patient, assisting with meals and tracking intake and output, report observations of patient behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to the Registered Nurse. Identifying patients using two patient identifiers, drawing blood using proper technique and equipment, labeling samples accurately and sending for testing, assist with necessary diagnostics, and perform blood glucose monitoring.
EXPERIENCE
- One year patient care experience required
- Or one year nursing unit clerk experience required
- Or one semester of nursing clinical experience, successfully completed
- Or four semesters of nursing program didactic/lectures, successfully completed
